Fourth box of visible learning

This represents the students participating and celebrating with other learners and the world. Just like when you can participate in an international cricket match by catching a one-handed six. Everyone can be part of the game.

My Footprint Map

We were learning about our 24 Hour Digital Footprint.
I learnt that I found it easy to copy icons onto my map.
I found it hard  remember the instructions.
I really enjoyed making the map.
Next time I need to listen carefully.

Profile for Mr.S

My name is Nic. I am a teacher at Makauri School. I am part Maori and part New Zealand European.

I love coming to school every morning. My favourite subjects at school are P.E, Maths, and Art. My challenges are ,music, dancing, and standing up in front of lots of people and talking.
These are my goals this year. I'm really looking forward to a second year in the learning HUB.
I am inspired by the teacher's working at Makauri School, and really love teaching in this wonderful place.
Makauri School is a fun place to be.

Moonshot around zero plastic bags - Flag the Bag

A safe bet in flagging  the bag would be to replace plastic bags with paper bags.
Would this be better or worse - would paper bags use too many trees?

A moonshot for Flagging the Bag could be drone deliveries for purchases.
This would replace plastic - but would it be appropriate for all?

Teaching as Inquiry at Makauri School

What is the focus area?
Draft your Inquiry Question.
Link this to the Charter Strategic Goals.
Link to the Education Council's Standards for the Teaching Profession and your role in the school.

What do teachers and/or students know about and can do already in this focus area?
What are my beliefs and assumptions in relation to this focus area and my question?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is the evidence to support these beliefs and assumptions? Assessment Data, Observations, Conversations.
What sources of information can add to this evidence? Research, Literature, etc.

Do I need to review my inquiry question?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What learning experiences can I design and implement to address my inquiry question?
What changes do I need to make to my practice? Tasks, Experiences, Teaching Actions?

You may go through several cycles of Plan, Act or Teach, and Review.

How has my practice changed as a result of my inquiry? What have I learnt that challenged my beliefs and assumptions? Challenges? Successes?
What is the impact of my changed practice for other teachers and school leaders?
How can I share outcomes with colleagues? (Staff Professional Learning and Development Session)

Throughout the year, I will be labelling my blog posts to reflect our Makauri
